Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity, is the consort of Lord Vishnu. In Sanskrit the word 'laksme' means 'goal' and hence Lakshmi represents the goal of life. She is also known by the names Haripriya, Padma, Padmalaya, Jaladhija, Chanchala, and Lokamata.
